If you are a physically challenged driver with a retrofitted car, you can get this free FasTag for driving all around India. Here we explain how you avail of this beneficial scheme from NHAI
Step:1 – Check your vehicle status
Confirm your vehicle registration status as ‘Invalid Carriage‘ (or) ‘Retrofitted‘ on the Indian Transport Website. It’s mandatory to avail of this free FasTag. If your vehicle RC status doesn’t show as ‘Invalid Carriage’, you should request your Regional Transport Office (RTO) by a request letter where your car registration is done.
Step:2 – Close your existing Fastag if you have one
If you already have a free Fastag offered by any financial institution or bank, you should close it before applying from NHAI. Most of the financial institutions/banks have their online facility for this and you can use it.
Step:3 – Apply for FasTag
NHAI simplified the process of the free Fastag application. You can simply apply through this website with the required documents.
You have done your part! It will take around 40-70 days to get your free FasTag after the officials verify your car RTO details once. They will call you to their office for visual verification of your car and give you Fastag.
